Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Welcome to St Mary–St Joseph Catholic Primary School Maroubra.

Following the Brigidine tradition, our school motto, ‘Strength and Gentleness’, typifies the values to which we aspire. We recognise that these characteristics will support children throughout their years of education and beyond.

Choosing St Mary–St Joseph for your child provides them with the opportunity to share their talents and enhance our vibrant education community.

I look forward to meeting you and answering any questions about our school.

History
St Mary–St Joseph Catholic Primary School Maroubra was founded by the Brigidine Sisters in 1935. The school community continues to be inspired by our motto ‘Strength and Gentleness’. The school was administered by the Brigidine Sisters until the end of 1988. We acknowledge and value our Brigidine history, inviting the Brigidine sisters to join us for major events.

Vision
St Mary–St Joseph Catholic Primary School Maroubra is a Christ-centred community inspired by the Brigidine values of strength and gentleness. Motivated by the examples of St Mary and St Joseph, we work as a community to welcome and nourish each individual.

Mission

The staff, students, parents and parish community of St Mary–St Joseph are committed to:

  • Building a strong Catholic faith community that fosters empathy and forgiveness through respectful relationships
  • Providing a stimulating and challenging curriculum where student growth and achievement is nurtured, valued and celebrated
  • Stewardship of the land traditionally occupied by the Bidjigal and Gadigal people.

We are very fortunate at St Mary–St Joseph Catholic Primary School Maroubra to have a strong partnership with our parish. Each term, students attend class Mass at the parish with their teachers and peers. In addition to this, there are two family Masses per term, where students and their families come together to celebrate with the parish community.
